Heading out of Rapid City for the first ride of the season that entails more than a trip to the dealer. It’s a beautiful day with bright blue skies and a cool breeze. Late spring and early summer lazily linger in the air. Up Highway 44 and then north on 385 toward Deadwood with a stop at the Sugar Shack for lunch. Then through Deadwood and out Boulder Canyon to Sturgis. Diving back into the hills at Vanocker Canyon, a stop along Elk Creek at Holloway Road, through Nemo and back into Rapid City. If only Big Mama’s had been open. Beautiful day and the bike feels good. Hard as it will be to leave things behind, I was thinking along the way how excited I am for the big ride to start. Less than 3 weeks.
