The family we choose for ourselves

“They” say that your friends are the family you choose for yourself. And if that’s true, then I must have wanted a family of nutters and sentimental fools in my life. Come to think of it, that’s exactly what I wanted. And lucky me, I’ve found a few. I’ve been blessed enough to have made friends with some pretty amazing people in my life, and those special people have made my life all the better for having known them. Luckily, in the past couple of years while traveling I’ve made a few more. Friends from the road seem to see the world in a similar way to me, giving us an instant connection.

Last week I was lucky enough to attend the Horizons Unlimited California event and get to hang out with some of these incredible people, some of whom I was meeting for the very first time in person. My friends….the family I have chosen for myself. And they are some of the best people I know.

Here’s to all these beautiful, generous, supportive, rockin’, gorgeous people….much love, M

  1. I love this entry and am always grateful to have such a great friend as you – going on almost 20 years now! WOW!

I’m very proud of you and the journey you’ve been on. I can’t wait to see what you do next!

  2. As one of your new friends (and a new world traveler, to boot!) I can say that meeting you was one of the highlights of the HU Nakusp, BC Traveler’s meeting. I look forward to seeing you again one of these days.

  3. Loved your presentation at the HU in Mariposa Michelle, I am including you in my blog now. xoxo
