Dubrovnik, Croatia

Moving further south along the coast we finally come to the spectacular walled city of Dubrovnik. Some form of settlement has been here for more than a thousand years.  I remember seeing horrific and saddening photos of it after the bombings it sustained during the war with Serbia in the early 90s, and am relieved to see it has been well restored. You can actually walk all the way around the old city on the high fortress walls. There is no place like it in the world.

Our guide takes us on a tour inside and all the way around old Dubrovnik.  We while away an entire day here and finish it with a sunset cocktail on the outside of the wall.
